"My Turn!"
Monday morning rolled around, and I got to the track early for some breakfast and a briefing with Kelly Collins. Both Kelly and Leighton Reese
would spend the day with me getting me up to speed in this amazing Pontiac because there is probably no one better suited for the job.
We headed out on track in a street car so Kelly could give me a few pointers about the car that were specific to the Mid Ohio Circuit.
After, I hopped in the GXP.R and followed Kelly around the circuit. We spent a few laps running around the track to give me the chance to get acclimated
to this amazing car. We came in, talked a little about the car and track, and later in the morning, it was time for me to take solo to the track. I went
out and used the time to get used to the circuit and car and slowly start to test the limits of the car.
After my first solo session, I came in and reported to the race engineers what I felt the car was doing so they could make some changes to the car. Kelly,
Leighton and I then talked about the car, track, and what I thought about the car over some lunch.
After lunch, it was time for another session in the car. For each session, I would get roughly 5 timed laps. Another great session, went quicker, and got a
little more used to driving this beast!
